Details about Fortis Alberta Lineman Apprenticeship Program
Employees are trained at a state-of-the-art and award-winning Employee Development Centre (EDC) in Red Deer, using a program that equips our apprentices with the skills they need to support the delivery of reliable power in the safest and most efficient manner possible.
During each of the first three years of the program, apprentices undergo a minimum of 1,525 hours of paid on-the-job training, and four to five weeks of technical training and examinations at the EDC facility. In the fourth year, apprentices complete a minimum of 1,800 hours of paid additional on-the-job training and are certified with a national Red Seal certificate upon successful completion of the final exam.
