David "Buckshot" Ross has dedicated over 41 years to line work, training more than a thousand individuals at SCE&G and other organizations. Retiring from SCE&G in 2019, he was driven to nurture future generations of lineworkers and became the lead instructor at York Technical College's new Utility Line Worker Program. Faced with challenges like a lack of outdoor training facilities and inadequate funding at the onset, Ross led the development of a comprehensive training site by securing grants and partnerships. His efforts resulted in a state-of-the-art training facility featuring dedicated indoor spaces and a climbing yard. Ross's initiatives, including streamlined enrollment processes and community engagement, have consistently maintained full enrollment at the training sites. His work has significantly enhanced the training quality and career opportunities for lineworkers, solidifying his reputation and effectiveness in the field.
